Bonehead du jour
A Kansas man may now
regret calling the cops. The Wichita man told the 911 dispatcher
someone stole his pot. According to authorities, the victim reported he
was trying to sell a pound of pot worth about 1100 bucks. The victim
told police the supposed buyer came into his home and pulled out a
sawed-off shotgun. Police brought in a drug-sniffing dog and found more
marijuana. The robbery victim now faces a number of drug charges, while
the pot bandit hasn't been caught. says employees of Starbucks are
coming across the street to sample the fare at Dunkin'.
Full
disclosure: I'm a native of Wichita and our first ever bonehead of the
year came from Wichita. The bonehead was on trial for stealing
merchandise from a shoe store. When it was his turn to take the
witness stand, he propped his feet on the stand -- wearing a pair of
boots he'd stolen from the store. -D.M.

Makers of clothing
steamers might need to update their product warnings to include this:
Do not use near building sprinkler systems. The damaging effect of
about a thousand gallons of water pouring into a northeastern Kentucky
arts center began when a scholarship pageant contestant hung her dress
from a sprinkler head on the ceiling to remove the wrinkles before the
Miss Ashland Area Scholarship Pageant. The fire department says heat
from a steamer she was using triggered the sprinkler system on the
second floor of the Paramount Arts Center. About two-and-a-half inches
of standing water flooded the center, causing an estimated $30,000 in
damage. But in showbiz fashion, the portion of the arts center where
the incident took place was cordoned off and the show went on.
Oh, and
the host? Kevin Costner. Who knew?
