Doug: And we're back on The Big Risk. Much to Harry's chagrin, we're adding CY$500 to each players' score.

Doug: Now to the True or False board so that you can win more of Dirty Harry's 401(k).

Doug: On the board, we have patriotic slot machine symbols. In a moment, I'll give 'em a spin. Before I do, you'll each pick a row or column.

If you pick a line that has three different symbols -- such as any row and right column currently -- then you'll play three questions at CY$250 each.

Pick a line that ends up with a pair of a particular symbol -- such as the center column and middle row at the present time -- then your three questions will be worth CY$500 each.

And if you pick a line with three of a kind -- such as the left column -- then your three questions will be worth CY$1000 each.

You'll each pick a row or column -- and two or all three of you are allowed to pick the same line.

Andy, we'll start with you. Which line?

Andy: The right column -- I hope it's the right one.

Doug: We'll find out shortly. Brian?

Brian: I'll pick the top row.

Doug: Going top shelf. And Chico?

Chico: Down the middle! Middle row.

Doug: Okie doke. Three different lines. Is at least one of them worth CY$1000 a question?

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on True or False board spin)

(audience cheers)

Doug: Champ picks the lucky line. Brian gets a pair of bells, Chico two flags.

However, since Brian's in third place right now, he plays these first three questions. Brian, each right answer is worth CY$500.

True or false: Jodie Foster's real first name is Lana.

Brian: False.

Doug: It's Alicia.

True or false: Swimming burns more calories than running.

Brian: True.

Doug: No, that's actually false.

True or false: Senegal is located in Africa.

Brian: True.

Doug: That is true for two out of three.

Doug: Tie for second right now -- but Chico's coming up to bat. These next three questions are for you. Each right answer is worth CY$500.

True or false: Syliva Plath was a famous opera singer.

Chico: False.

Doug: A famous writer.

True or false: Taiwan was previously known as Formosa.

Chico: True.

Doug: You're two for two. Last one for your sweep.

True or false: When the Apple computer was introduced, its retail price was $420.

Chico: False. Are you high?

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: Thankfully, I'm not. The actual retail price back then was, get this, $666.66. All I'm gonna say about that -- I'm a PC.

Doug: Andy, the last three are for you. Thanks to the lucky pick, each right answer is worth CY$1000.

True or false: You can find a Burger King restaurant in China.

Andy: I think it's true.

Doug: And I think that's right.

True or false: The term "high five" was coined by a football player.

Andy: I think it was a different sport, so false.

Doug: Coined by L.A. Dodger Glenn Burke -- so that would be a baseball player. You're two-for-two.

True or false: Edgar Allen Poe invented the detective story.

Andy: I'm pretty sure it's true.

Doug: And that's three for three.

Doug: All right, Andy leads with 5700, Chico's in second with 3500 and Brian with 2000. These players have a lot of cyber-money coming in to Five-Card Risk. D.J. has more about tonight's first turns of the cards.

D.J.: Oh yeah, during the break, Harry randomly determined the theme of the Five-Card Risk and we're playing...

(ding)

D.J.: ...Hi-Lo. Now also during the break, the dirty one shuffled a 54-card deck, including two Jokers, and placed the first five cards accordingly behind the numbered dice faces.

In Hi-Lo, the winning cards are higher than a 9 and lower than a 7.

In a moment, you'll each place a wager on the first card in the hope it's not a 7, 8 or 9. If that first card turns up a winner, the payoff is one-to-one.

When we turn over a winning card, you'll decide whether to freeze and protect your winnings for the round -- or risk and try to double what you just doubled.

Be careful -- because if you risk and then we turn over a 7, 8 or 9, the round ends and you post a net loss of your original wager. Also, be careful of the Jokers. While they're wild, they also represent losing cards.

Doug: OK, the minimum bet in this round is CY$500. You, again, may take the big risk voluntarily and bet your entire stake. Still, you have to bet in CY$50 increments.

So go ahead and place your bets.

(think music plays) (buzz buzz)

Doug: And no bet in time from Chico. Rule says we put him all in.

A lot will be won or lost -- if you risk. You may freeze if you have a bad feeling that next card's a losing proposition.

Freeze or risk?
